Inside ELLE LOS ANGELES First-Ever Office Hours Live

ELLE’s iconic career column, Office Hours, has long been a platform for influential figures to share their professional journeys and insights. Now, ELLE has brought Office Hours to life with its inaugural live event, held in partnership with The Standard, East Village.

The event kicked off with a panel discussion moderated by ELLE’s deputy digital editor, Madison Feller. The panel featured Amber Asher, CEO of Standard International; Ah-Niyah Gold, founder of A Gold Consulting; Marjon Carlos, cultural critic and host of the Your Favorite Auntie podcast; and Priya Krishna, food reporter and cookbook author.

Following the panel discussion, attendees participated in guided career vision boarding led by Margot Lee, founder of No Particular Order, using ELLE magazines as inspiration.

Throughout the evening, panelists shared anecdotes from their diverse first jobs and offered insights into their unconventional career paths. From Asher’s early days working at a cider mill to Gold’s experience performing on Broadway, each panelist highlighted the unique experiences that shaped their careers. Krishna shared her approach to creating her children’s cookbook, emphasizing the importance of honest feedback from kid taste-testers.

Asher discussed her transition from being a lawyer to becoming a CEO, motivated by the desire to inspire other women to pursue leadership roles. Carlos explained her multifaceted career approach, which includes writing, podcasting, and consulting, emphasizing the importance of seizing opportunities and pursuing one’s passions fully.

The event encapsulated the ethos of Office Hours, celebrating the diverse career journeys of women and empowering attendees to pursue their professional goals with confidence.
